Reading Response Chapter 2

In regards to Sans Souci, it is fascinating that many Haitians did not understand the full history behind the name. Most guides refer to the name as meaning carefree, opposed to the true meaning behind the name, the man killed by the former Haitian King. History records Sans Souci as a loser, someone whom got in the way of Haitian freedom. This shows how an individual can be a critical part of history, yet depending on the side of an event they fall on, they will either be slightly remembered or be written as a hero.
